Organic Peru: A Single Origin Dilworth Coffee

organic peru label

Your favorite wholesale Raleigh coffee company here and we’ve got some words to share about one of our favorite coffees, more specifically, an Organic Peru that will have you singing this summer. Dilworth has been selling wholesale coffee for 30 years, and in those years the recipes and ratios of some of our coffee blends have changed.

We always have a specific flavor profile in mind when designing a blend, but the specific coffees may change. Sometimes a Colombian, sometimes a Peru, sometimes a Costa Rican and so on. One of the coffees we use for blends and sell as single origin currently, is an Organic Peru, and we’re pretty big fans of it.

What Makes Peruvian Coffee Stand Out?

Peruvian coffee is some of the most well sourced coffee in the world. They were one of the first South American countries to start growing coffee in the 1800’s. In the early 2000’s the Peruvian government, amid internal conflict in the country–hurting coffee trading, stepped up to provide increased funding and infrastructure to create a stable coffee industry. In the following years, Peru has become one of the leading producers of organic, fair-trade coffee globally.

What's Behind That Smooth Sip: Peru's Coffee Roots

Peruvian Arabica beans are light and boast a mild acidity. Flavor profiles range from vanilla nuttiness and chocolate to delightful aromatic citrus. There are a few factors that make Peruvian coffee desirable from a roaster’s perspective. Peru has an excellent altitude to grow coffee (around 1200 meters above sea level), great arabica genetic heritage, and well-run co-ops. A large portion of these co-ops are hand-picked, which pose a higher degree of danger to the workers than machine picked coffee. A lot of them are naturals, which mean they are air dried. Few Peruvian coffees are washed, but there is a small market for them.

Latin coffees make the world go round! We love Peruvian coffee ‘round these parts, and we think you will too. This Organic Peru is smooth, nutty, mildly milk chocolate, as so so delicious.
