For the month of September, we decided to focus on the powerful creativity that is involved with blending different coffees together in order to create a strong flavor profile. Our Brainstormin’ Blend is a combination of two different roasting styles sourced from the Santa Lucia Farm in Honduras. We previously wrote a blog about the Santa Lucia Farm where we explored their stellar growing and harvesting practices as well as their dedication to their workers and community.
Their excellent coffee made for a perfect playground of blending. While roasting this coffee, we discovered that a lighter roast profile highlighted smooth notes of citrus and hazelnut while a darker roast brought forth a robust chocolate finish. By combining these two roasting styles, we created one of our finest and most beloved blends. The Brainstormin’ Blend is exactly what we pictured when we thought of a smooth morning coffee. The sweetness of the hazelnut partners exquisitely with the rich after tones of cocoa, resulting in the best way to start the morning.
