Cloud Surfing Coffee

Among the lush green canopy of oak and pine sprawled across the shallow hills of North Carolina. In the sunlit shadow of NC State University. Where the next generation of artists put paint to paper and etch faces into marble. Down an unmarked path off the trails beside the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA), lies a curious stone mound in the woods.

The Cloud Chamber is an interactive art piece designed by Chris Drury in 2003 to function as a pinhole camera. As the NCMA explains, “as light passes through the hole in the roof, it creates an upside-down reflection of the sky and clouds on the ground beneath the viewer. It is a peaceful, dreamlike space where viewers can observe the natural world around them.”

Cloud Surfing, back in the day, used to be called Cloud Chamber, in honor of Chris Drury’s design. We designed this roast to be a more subtle and complex dark roast. Hints of dried fruit from Ugandan coffee beans to accompany the semi-sweet chocolate profile of our washed Sumatra. Cloud surfing is an easy drinkin' dark roasted blend with a little more subtly that you usually expect from a dark roast. We hope you snag a bag this May and give your taste buds a chance to soar!
