At Dilworth, our philosophy of coffee is designed to fit your vision for your coffee shop, café, or home coffee pot. We want you to enjoy the kind of coffee you love to drink from coffee blends, flavored coffee, and espresso. With that philosophy in mind, we’ve curated our bulk coffee offerings to reflect an espresso for every occasion. In this blog, we’ll be chatting a bit about our single origin Seda Dulce Espresso blend; the flavor notes, the purpose and some discussion about single origins espressos.
Single origins espressos are a little controversial. Typically, single origins are roasted to express a certain characteristic that the coffee has. Either a delightful bright citrus note, or a smoothy chocolate mouth feel, or something of that nature. This makes it difficult to roast a balanced single origin espresso, because that’s not its purpose. An espresso is intended to be used through the day with many different drinks in many different capacities for many kinds of customers. We’ve tried to solve this issue by taking our single origin Brazil and roasting it in two batches. One as a light roast espresso, and one as a dark roast espresso, and then combining them post roast. Either of these roasts, by themselves, would pull a little flat as an espresso. The dark espresso beans, a little chocolatey and a little woody, but no sweetness. The light roast espresso beans, a little sweet, a little buttery, but no robust flavor. Together, they make a well-rounded, sweet, and caramelized espresso that is super consistent and drinkable.
Seda Dulce is an espresso blend we’ve developed to be quite sweet and mild. It’s nutty, buttery, and has some distinct caramel notes. The caramel and butter notes pair beautifully with a little steamed milk, like in a cappuccino or cortado, but the flavors get drowned out in latte or specialty drink. It pulls very consistently day-in-day-out and is very forgiving.
If you’re looking for an espresso to make excellent milk and espresso based drinks, and not necessarily want something acidic and fruity, then Seda Dulce is the perfect espresso for you!
