The name of our Creamy Frangelican flavored coffee comes from the famous brown bottled liquor. As legend has it, the iconic hazelnut infused liquor dates back more than 300 years. If you do a little research, you’ll soon find that liquor in its earliest form was created by Christian monks throughout early Europe.
Liquor was thought to be a medicinal beverage instead of a recreational one. How times change! Frangelico is no different. In the Piedmont region of Northern Italy, an Italian hermit monk named Fra’ Angelico was perfecting his method of distilling wild Italian hazelnuts into a divine golden-brown liquor. The bottle of this nutty distillation still boasts its distinctive history, being shaped like a monks’ robe with a belt around its waist.
Coffee on its own already contains a lot of wonderful nutty notes and characteristics that coffee drinkers everywhere enjoy.
